Wind Advisory
Statement as of 10:02 PM PDT on March 27, 2015

... Wind Advisory in effect until 2 PM PDT Saturday...

The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued a Wind
Advisory... which is in effect until 2 PM PDT Saturday.

* Timing: winds will continue to increase overnight reaching peak
speeds late tonight through early Saturday and then begin to
decrease Saturday afternoon.

* Winds: southwest to west winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts to around
50 mph.

* Impacts: these wind speeds can toss around loose objects and
cause difficult driving for high profile vehicles.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast
between 30 and 39 mph or gusts ranging from 45 to 57 mph. Winds
of these magnitudes can make driving difficult... especially for
high profile vehicles. Minor property damage may also occur. For
additional weather information... check our web site at
www.Weather.Gov/Pendleton.

Special Statement
Statement as of 4:12 PM PDT on March 27, 2015

... Cold frontal passage expected overnight with windy conditions...

A cold front will sweep across the region passing over the Columbia
Basin around midnight. Some light rain will be possible
with the front but an increase in westerly winds behind the front will
be the main impact from the frontal passage. Winds will increase to 20
to 30 mph with gusts around 45 mph which will continue through
Saturday morning before decreasing through the day. There is the
potential for some localized blowing dust near freshly plowed fields
but the wetting effects of rainfall within the past 48 hours
means soil conditions are not favorable for widespread blowing
dust.
